Angus MacKenzie Named Chief Content Officer at Source Interlink Media
El Segundo, CA (November 11, 2011) – Source Interlink Media (SIM) is excited to announce the appointment of Angus MacKenzie to the position of Chief Content Officer. In this new role, he will be responsible for developing editorial, entertainment and advertising content strategies across all of the SIM brands.
MacKenzie, who will work closely with the seasoned talent of SIM’s editors and publishers, will also oversee the group’s newly created automotive video group as it develops programs for YouTube’s recently announced original content channels initiative, as well as a new in-house automotive PR team. He will report directly to Chris Argentieri, President Source Interlink Media.
As a seasoned veteran in the media industry, MacKenzie brings diverse experience in content creation and development, particularly in the automotive sector. Prior to being appointed Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend in 2004, he was editor of Britain’s acclaimed CAR Magazine, and prior to that editor of the leading Australian automotive magazine, Wheels. In his 26-year career, he has covered every aspect of the automotive industry, from the OEM business, to the aftermarket, to motor sport. At Motor Trend, he aggressively moved the flagship brand into new platforms such as the web, mobile devices and tablets, while establishing staffing structures and workflows that enabled the efficient delivery of content to those platforms.
“I couldn’t be more excited for Angus. His experience in evolving Motor Trend from a magazine to an automotive media brand that reaches a diverse audience across multiple platforms will be invaluable as we continue to transform our company, and all of its brands, to the next generation of multimedia content,” said Mike Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer, Source Interlink Companies.
“Angus has demonstrated that the value in our business is in the content we create,” said Chris Argentieri, President, Source Interlink Media. “By leveraging the deep knowledge and extensive resources that come from more than 60 years of being a leading enthusiast magazine publisher, it gives us a genuine competitive advantage in creating compelling content for new and emerging media. We intend to make the most of that competitive advantage.”
As a result of MacKenzie’s appointment, Edward Loh has been promoted to Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend. Loh joined Motor Trend from Sport Compact Car in May, 2007, as senior editor, and became executive editor in January 2010. Loh began his career at Y-Visionary Publishing in 2000, and worked for Hachette’s Speed magazine, before being appointed editor of Sport Compact Car in January 2006. Loh will report directly to Angus MacKenzie.
