SIM Announces Strategic Change Within The Single Copy Sales Team

Bonita Springs, FL (August 31, 2011) — Source Interlink Media (“SIM”) announced today, the appointment of Chris Butler to Vice President, Single Copy Sales and Marketing responsible for driving strategy and execution of all single copy sales initiatives for SIM’s award winning enthusiast brands. Chris will join an already seasoned Circulation team reporting directly to Tom Slater, Vice President Consumer Marketing.

Chris joins Source Interlink Media with extensive experience in all aspects of Circulation including targeted roles in developing innovative programs and relationships at retail.  He most recently resided at Hearst Magazines where he spent 22 years, in various positions within the newsstand and circulation departments, representing their flagship properties including Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire and Popular Mechanics.  In addition, he supervised the launch of both Cosmo Girl and Talk Magazines.  His various roles included Director of Hearst Newsstand, Group Consumer Marketing Director, and most recently Vice President, Group Consumer Marketing Director for Retail … where he was responsible for conceiving, planning, execution and marketing of single copy sales for the Hearst Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) program.   Prior to joining Hearst Magazines, Chris worked for a national distributor, Select Magazines, in various senior level roles including Corporate Development and Client Relations.  Chris and his wife will be relocating to Bonita Springs, trading in the sky scrapers of Manhattan for the palm trees of Florida.

In addition to Chris joining the team, Slater also announced a strategic realignment of the single copy sales department which targets the department’s core strengths and resources, to align them in vertical teams focused on our core brands and driving single copy sales.

  • Bill Carter will be promoted to Senior Director, Single Copy Sales. Bill knows the business inside and out and over the last several years with SIM has transitioned through many changes with a positive attitude.   Bill will report to and work closely with Chris Butler in developing and executing our single copy sales strategies moving forward.   Further to our realignment, to ensure all resources are brought to bear in a focused and cohesive strategy, our had working and respected product managers, Gerry Cole, Senior Product Manager;  Andy Cheng, Senior Product Manager and Jesus Quesada will report directly to Bill.  Jesus is also being promoted to Senior Product Manager as he has continuously demonstrated a level of excellence in delivering these services.
  • Jessica Meschko, Director, Single Copy, who is responsible for working closely with our sister company, Source Interlink Distribution (SID), will report directly to Chris Butler and continue in her current role … ensuring that we are maximizing every possible opportunity to increase our single copy sales in the SID retail footprint.
  • Helene Christensen will be promoted to Manager, Print Order Analysis.  With the assistance of our Print Order Analysts, Rob Bone and Salma Ambia, they will ensure that we consistently implement the best processes regarding print order management and that efficiencies are maximized across our entire portfolio.
  • Truc Hoang, Sales Analyst, will also report directly to Chris Butler, diving into the data and uncovering the opportunities upon which we will set our goals and strategies as we press forward.
